When I was pregnant with my third child (I am not quite sure I want to say how long ago that was anymore).... I went to the mall, after internet research to determine where the maternity stores were, to scope out some clothes to stretch over my blossoming belly.
After trying on every style and most sizes of pants (now does any one of these even look like you could sit down in them at 9 months?) that they had, I became frustrated and angry. Here I was, barely 6 months pregnant and no maternity clothes had any room for my belly to grow any more.
I went back to my car and tearfully dialed Mom on the cell phone. I complained to her about what had happened. My mother told me to "Do something about it." And so I did.
I drew up designs, worked with a pattern maker, hired a manufacturer and even talked a lot about the "engineering principals" of maternity clothes with my father. We engineered pockets, comfortable gussets and grow with you clothing.
So we began to specialize in clothing for pregnant women, keeping in mind the unique needs of our changing round belly. Our clothing is soft, pretty and large enough to accommodate those babies that are destined to be 9 or 10 pounds (or even more) at birth.
And our size chart doesn't end at 12, it stretches straight through to a 2x and beyond. (just ask us and we will work to fill your needs). Big and Beautiful bellies deserve clothing too! (I'm a size 16-20 and I fit into a Round Belly Large).
Our organic journey began with my introduction to organic fabrics by Karen of Wild Rose Farm, our first manufacturer. I had several pieces of clothing from her line for years (and really loved them). It turns out she had been using organicly grown cottons and I told her that unless my styles depended on a particular fabric then she was more then welcome to use organic fabrics with them.
At this same time my husband was introduced to "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser (for a class in college). He told me "You gotta read this." So I did.
It didn't take too long before we cut out our weekly trip to Burger King. And started researching more about organics and natural foods.
The more I researched and learned the more clear it all became to me and I started to understand some of the relationships with poor food choices and the autism we were battling with my oldest son.
Organics became the "obvious" way to go. And I wanted to share the organic clothing I had now with my family. After more internet research, I determined that the offerings in organic clothing was very limited for children over 18 months.
Because my most sensitive, autistic son, was a size 6, I had to start our own brand of organic kid clothes to dress him.
Ever do I do research on organic vs chemical intensive in foods, fabrics and cleaning supplies, and over the last 5 years we have worked hard to "go organic."
And I have gathered many of the best organic and natural items on our website to make your trip into organic a little easier.
